The Hope
diamond is one of the most famous
diamonds to be ever found in the crust of the Earth. Expert
diamond cutters claim that the formation process of this famous
diamond happened approximately 1.1 billion years ago. They also believe that the Hope
diamond was mined from a mine, which was located in India.
The Hope
diamond was originally embedded in a type of ingenious rock called as kimberlite. The presence of boron within Hope
diamond ring is responsible for its characteristic
blue color. The total
carat size of the Hope
diamond is estimated to be around 112 at the time of discovery.
Several
diamond ring collectors and cutters claim that the Hope
diamond is a cursed
diamond. In fact, there is a common misconception that the
stone will kill the ones who own or even touch it. However, King Louis XIV who was the first king to own the
diamond did not suffer any sort of misfortunes.
Upon the death of the king, the Hope
diamond was passed on to King Louis XVI, who and his wife were guillotined or beheaded during the French Revolution. The Hope
diamond is currently placed at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History.
