Also called man-made
diamonds, these are produced in conditions similar to the ones a mined
diamond undergoes during its formation. Not only are the physical circumstances duplicated, but the chemical composition of the stone is also kept exactly the same as a naturally formed
diamond. The crystal lattice structure is the same as well.
There are two ways man-made
diamonds are produced:
High-Pressure High Temperature (HPHT), and chemical vapor deposition. The former requires making a
diamond soup, which is then subjected to high pressure and heat to arrive at a
diamond crystal. Chemical vapor method, on the other hand, makes use of a
diamond crystal seed that is grown inside a chamber, with chemicals being used on it.
Advantages
- These are significantly cheaper.
- These are more ethical in comparison to mined diamonds.
- They are more unique.
- They are more visually appealing.
