Following are some of the best faux
diamonds you could get on the market.
Moissanite
Arguably the best faux
diamond in existence, moissanite comprises silicon carbide, which means it is almost of the same hardness as a natural
diamond. It also has reasonable
colorlessness, although the glow is far more
colorful than what you would see in a real
diamond.
Cubic Zirconia
Shortened to CZ, this
gem is highly popular for its low price. It is made up of zirconium dioxide, and hence has a lower hardness than moissanite at 8 to 8.5 on the Mohs’ scale. This means CZ requires careful handling to avoid scratches, which could reduce its
brilliance.
White Sapphire
Similar to real
diamond in appearance as well as close to it in hardness (9 in 10),
white
sapphire lacks
color, for the most part, making it a good choice when you are shopping for a faux
diamond. It does cost more than CZ though, so you need to check your budget before making a purchase.
