The 1920’s and 1930’s, in particular, was also a period where Hollywood film
sets embraced the Art Deco architecture, which inspired many other fields. Art Deco
rings, for instance, featured
colorful
gems in linear forms as well as popular geometric
shapes.
The
colorful gemstone choices were usually
white diamonds, black onyx,
red rubies,
green emerald, and
blue sapphire. Besides, contrasting
colors were often used in that period too;
white gold and
platinum were preferred over
yellow gold. Fancy
gemstone and
diamond cuts also became popular in the Art Deco era, comprising the
Asscher,
baguette, and
emerald cuts.
Most of the Art Deco jewelry was influenced by trends in art, especially Futurism and Cubism. Chinese motifs were used in the Art Deco style jewelry too.
Nowadays, the Art Deco jewelry is popular in the film fraternity, too, thanks in part to
vintage-inspired diamond rings. You could find many Hollywood celebrities who have gifted Art Deco, such as the tiered diamond ring, to their partners.
