Following are three types of
cushion cut you should probably know about.
Cushion Brilliant
Similar in many ways to the
round brilliant is the
cushion brilliant which has pavilion
facets, which run from the outer edge all the way to the
center, making the
design resemble a star in
shape. The name comes from the pillow-like
shape that these
diamonds possess.
Cushion Modified Brilliant
For a slight variation, you could go with a
cushion modified brilliant, which would have an additional
facet row below the girdle. This creates a visual effect resembling that of a flower. If sparkle is what matters most to you, a
cushion modified brilliant is a good choice. Stones of this cut cost less than
cushion brilliants, mainly because of lower wastage at the time of cutting.
Hybrid Cushion Brilliant
For someone who wants the benefits of both a
classic look and some extra
sparkle, a hybrid
cushion brilliant diamond may be just the thing. Talk to your jeweler and they will help you better understand this
cut.
