Most of the natural diamonds and other gemstones that are found on the Earth’s crust contain a few inclusions and flaws. These flaws and inclusions will have a major impact on the clarity grading of diamonds. The Gemological Institute of America usually assigns the following clarity grades to diamonds.
  • Inclusions 1
  • Inclusions 2
  • Small Inclusions 1
  • Small Inclusions 2
  • Very Small Inclusions 1
  • Very Small Inclusions 2
  • Very Very Small Inclusions 1
  • Very Very Small Inclusions 2
  • Internally Flawless
The inclusion on most VS1 diamond engagement rings will be barely visible even when the center stone of the rings are observed under a standard jeweler’s loupe. This means that it will take a trained eye to spot the inclusions and blemishes in VS1 clarity diamond rings. Yet again, expert diamond ring manufacturers say that the inclusions and flaws in VS1 diamond engagement rings are hardly noticeable to the naked eye, particularly when the carat size of the diamonds is less than 2 carats.
