As you may know,
diamonds are graded according to
the 4C’s inherent in every stone: color, cut, clarity, and carat. The
diamond clarity grades range from F (
Flawless) to I3 (Included).
IF (Internally
Flawless) is a clarity grade that comes right next to F. This grade can be considered roughly
flawless, with the stone having superior quality and perfection than the grades below.
Getting an F or
IF diamond is hard, because of the rarity of
flawless diamonds in nature. This, in turn, contributes to the high price of such stones. Being flawless, these
diamonds do not have many flaws even when examined under 10x magnification. If you are planning to buy an
IF clarity
diamond ring, be ready to spend thousands of dollars on the purchase.
The F and
IF grades have something that differentiates them. The key difference is that IF
diamonds have minor blemishes on the surface, known as polish marks, and this makes these
diamonds internally
flawless rather than completely
flawless. If you plan to buy a top quality
diamond ring, consider buying an
IF clarity
diamond ring, as it would come at a lower price than a
flawless one, while still looking as gorgeous as the latter.
