GIA is actually an independent nonprofit organization that grades diamonds based on their crucial characteristics. Almost all GIA
diamond rings available in the market are real. So, if you are unable to differentiate between fake and
real diamond rings, all you need to do is to check which one of them is graded by GIA.
A GIA diamond certification report will give you a clear idea about the different characteristics of a diamond such as color, clarity, carat weight, cut, fluorescence, and more. In addition to that, the report will also contain a unique number, which is often inscribed on the girdle of the
diamond. This number will give you access to the online global report database of GIA, which will, in turn, help you to confirm whether the
diamond is actually graded or not.
Jewelers usually use the terms ‘GIA cert’ and ‘GIA certified’ to refer to
diamonds that have undergone the rigorous grading process of the GIA. However, it is crucial to note that GIA does not certify the
diamonds or gemstones; instead, it grades the stones based on the 4 C’s.
